Ascension is an Inner-City Story about migrating from the South and the horrors of life in the ghetto. Ascension is an Inner-City Story about migrating from the South and the horrors of life in the ghetto. It is a fictional tale about victims and criminals living together in one of Boston's most notorious housing projects. Although many of the crimes - rape, robbery, murder - were violent and heinous nothing could compare to the terror that engulfed the community when the reddish glow appeared. Robert's mind scanned back to "B". He didn't realize that although he was more than 1000 miles away in distance and a lifetime away from the person he once was, this evil tracked him. The first thing Minister Mason drew to Robert's attention was the name of the church, "New Hope". It is not by coincidence the church is named "New Hope", it is because many of its parishioners are seeking salvation from their past lives. Once you ask for forgiveness and steadfastly follow the path laid before you, you will be forgiven and freed from this demon. Do you understand? Are you ready, are you willing to fight for your salvation?" Robert cleared his voice and bowed his head, saying, "I'm new to this town, to this congregation. I have spent years doing terrible things, awful things. Today I stand before you as a changed man. Today I am taking Jesus Christ as my personal savior. I will be baptized and born again. Hallelujah!" Robert had a vision. He saw his future unfold before him. He saw himself using his experiences for good, helping people. The evil that had consumed his life seemed to have been replaced with a desire to help others who had grown up like him escape that life. For the first time, Robert began to believe he had a future and it excited him.
