It is argued that ASEAN (Association of South-East Asian Nations), with a weak formal mandate, has been more effective in enhancing regional security and order as well as economic development than other Regional Organs in Asia. As a regional organization, how ASEAN has repeatedly overcome its fallen short of resolving such conflicts. Threats of terrorism, competition over nuclear weapons and ballistic missiles, and an unresolved dispute over land comprise some of the main areas of tension between these countries.
