Assembly line balancing is technique to achieve higher efficiency and production rate in the assembly line. Balancing the workload of workers is an important task of the manager of any organization. Assembly line balancing is simply the assignment of the right number of workers and machines to meet production rate targets with minimal idle time in each assembly line segment. There are several methods for balancing the assembly line for different types of production systems and their problems to balance assembly line. A detail literature review is carried out to decide the aims and objectives for work. Further to achieve objectives studies the different methods and techniques to balance assemble line for improve the efficiency. This book describes a heuristic methods and rules that is computerized into Expert System, which will act like human expert. Ranked Positional Weight (RPW) heuristic approach is applied to balance assembly line. For the validation of Expert System, we have taken the case study of assembly line for manufacturing of washing machine. This expert system has design to produce workstations, cycle time, total number of units, and the overall efficiency.
