The primary objective of this study is to grade the top ranking companies on the basis of certain financial ratios.This book also attempts to find the factors that contribute to this new approach of grading the industries and their companies in Indian context and in addition, (i) To uncover the intrinsic groups or classes underlying financial ratios of Indian industries and companies.(ii) To determine the number of distinct groups or classes ( p ) of industries and companies.(iii) To propose different methods of rating the companies on the basis of their performances on certain financial ratios using data mining tools.(iv) To detect the clusters in data using Self-Organizing Map (SOM) as Data Mining (DM) tool, based on the underlying weight maps and compare it with the proposed method. Also, to visualize the main categories of financial ratios using Perceptual Map.
