Despite the promising benefits of urban livestock keeping in terms of urban food security among urban dwellers,the increased number of livestock and problems associated with it has some implications to man and environment.Animals create problems like smell,diseases,pollution of waterways etc.In Tanzania urban such as Morogoro Municipality, urban livestock keeping is growing.Researches have been conducted to investigate impacts of livestock keeping in urban environment and some interventions have been done where towns were forced to devise by-laws for guiding that activity.It is about thirteen years since the municipal formulated her by-laws,however no research has been conducted to assess those by-laws.This book will provide information on effectiveness of animal s by-laws in managing that activity and environment.Specifically it will show the characteristics of keepers in relation to the existing by-laws requirements and their attitude towards those by-laws,the examined influence of by- laws on the location of the established livestock enterprises and the analyzed current animals by-laws.The book is useful to urban livestock keepers,local government and other knowledge seekers.
