The need to adjust Nigeria's foreign policy stances to suit changing circumstances on the international scene became a topical issue in the wake of the 21st century hence the urge to boost the foreign policy and national image through external relations in the international arena. Taking the Yar'Adua and Jonathan's foreign policy stances of citizen and subsequently economic diplomacy into consideration, this work reflects on these stances and their consequences on Nigeria's foreign policy and national image. A systems approach was utilized to understand the core issue of the study and how elements within the international system interact and the secondary source of data collection was adopted.
