Andrographis paniculata Wall. ex Nees (Kalmegh) is one of the nineteen species of the genus Andrographis, which is indigenous to India. The herb is distributed in tropical Asian countries with hot and humid climates. Its major diterpenoid constituent is andrographolide. In the review, they have compiled morphology, chemistry and biotransformation, traditional use and pharmacological activities such as hepatoprotective, immunological, anti-inflammatory, antimalarial, anti-diarrhoeal, cardiovascular, hypoglycaemic, anti-fertility and psycho-pharmacological activities. The aim of the present study was to investigate analgesic and antipyretic activities in experimental animals.
