The present experiment was designed to study the relationship between Body Condition Score (BCS) with various physical attributes, to study the post partum changes of BCS and effect of BCS at kidding, on birth and weaning weight of kids in Ganjam goat. A BCS scale of 1 to 5 with 0.5 increments was used to score the does. The study was conducted on Ganjam does which were maintained in the farmers home in the villages of Nayagarh district, Odisha. A total of 102 does were scored for physical parameters and 45 pregnant does (divided into three groups BCS: 2.0-2.5, BCS: 3.0-3.5 & BCS: 4.0-4.5) for postpartum changes. The does were in the age of 2 to 4 years. The does were divided into groups according to their age (up to 3 yrs and above 3 yrs). The various physical parameters were studied like BCS, Body weight (BWT), pin shoulder length (PS), height at withers (HW), heart girth (HG), abdominal girth (AG) and thigh circumferences (TC). The birth weight and weight of kids at 60 days ofage were recorded.The number of does with BCS of 2.00, 2.50, 3.00, 3.50, 4.00 and 4.5 were 25, 10, 21, 4, 22 and 20 respectively.
