Construction Industry not only provides employment to the large population but has direct link with the economy also. Construction industry being second largest in India after Agriculture, contributes about 11% in the GDP. Although steel, wood Aluminium structures are also in use, concrete structures are the most common type of structures. From industries to highways from dams to flyovers massive concrete structures are occupying their place in the world. Cement industry isdirectly related with the construction industry in the world. India is the second largest cement producer in the world after China. For making concrete and mortar which are two main components of concrete structure sand is invariably used. Sand has its natural origin as it is produced by degradation of natural rocks due to abrasion. As demand of natural sand is increasing day by day there is heavy thrust on the environment and suitable alternatives shall be used in place of naturalsand to protect and preserve the environment.
