Master's Thesis from the year 2019 in the subject Economy - Environment economics, University of Lusaka (Postgraduate studies), course: Environmental management, language: English, abstract: Kabwe is one of the most affected towns with lead poisoning due to its earlier mining activities. Research conducted by Zambia Consolidated Copper Mine Investment Holding show that 35 per cent of Kabwe¿s population in Chowa, Kasanda and Katondo is exposed to high levels of lead. This prompted ZCCM-IH to conduct sensitizations and encourage formation of lead treatment support groups. However, data has continued to show a high number of children being diagnosed with lead poisoning. Therefore, the research attempted to assess the levels of knowledge on lead poisoning among the residents of kabwe District. The general objective of the research was to assess knowledge on lead poisoning among the Adult population of Chowa, Kasanda and Katondo in Kabwe District in order to identify areas where knowledge is lacking and help effectively direct public health and environmental related programs in Kabwe District Data was collected using Questionnaires that were given to each of the participants who were recruited in the research. The questionnaires were a Likert-type scale in section A and open ended in section B. Eighty six (86) participants that included adult male and female participants were recruited. Quantitative data was analyzed using Excel and Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS).
