Soil salinity builds up in many agricultural soils, especially in the irrigated arid and semi-arid regions through various soil processes. In severe cases, this leaves detrimental consequences to the overall soil system. Physicochemical analyses of Soil and water samples from the irrigated region of the Sokoto-Rima flood plains at Sokoto were conducted to evaluate their salinity status. The sandy-loam soils were labelled saline non-sodic, chiefly augmented by the saline non-sodic status of the irrigation water observed in the area. Proper irrigation/drainage management, planting salt-tolerant variety of crops and avoidance of uncontrolled burning would among others, assist minimize if not control the menace. This is an important book for undergraduate and graduate students; and researchers interested in soil conservation, salinity, and related disciplines with an especial reference to the sudano-sahelian region of Nigeria and other regions with similar irrigation-related problemselsewhere.
