Over nine million (9m) school age children were believed to be Almajiris who were totally out of school (FGN, 2015). The federal government of Nigeria provided an avenue, that is Almajiri Integration Program through which the Almajiris can be integrated into formal system of education in order to contribute actively in the society. The study therefore, examines the journey so far, public acceptance, problems and prospects of the program. To carry out the study, descriptive survey design was used along with questionnaires and interview. The study reveals that government is performing per below expectation on the program. The members of the public accepted the program but due to the problems faced by the program it cannot meet the parents' demand. It reveals that there is the need for government to be consistent in its policy and programs, then shun corruption in education. It therefore recommended that, more schools should be established, the schools should be given cash allocation and special incentives for teachers and their heads. Non-governmental organization, companies, medium and small enterprises can intervene to complement government efforts.
