The objectives of our work were to identify the dietary habits associated with hemorrhoidal disease. This was a case-control study comparing a group of 30 patients with hemorrhoids with a control group of 30. For each group, we conducted a dietary survey. Results: Most patients had chronic constipation; weight and body mass index were significantly higher in the diseased group (p = 0.001); water consumption was lower in the diseased group. There was a significant difference in the consumption of spicy foods (p = 0.004). Fiber intake (g/day) was higher in the control group, with no significant difference (p = 0.406). conclusion: Hemorrhoidal disease is influenced by constipation and certain dietary habits.
