Mastitis is a complex multi etiological disease affecting dairy cattle having a high detrimental consequence to animal health leading to reduced longevity, productivity and causing huge economic loss to livestock industry. CD14 (Cluster of Differentiation 14) gene is one of the excellent candidates for mastitis resistance. The gene has been mapped on BTA 7 and spans over 2630 bp. This book, a part of M.V.Sc thesis submitted to Indian Council of Agricultural Research - National Dairy Research Institute (NDRI) explores the CD14 gene variants in Karan Fries cattle and its association with incidence of mastitis.
