Having been raised in Minnesota, and later moving to California to study fine art at Laguna College of Art and Design, I take inspiration from what I love most: fantasy, art, vigilante heroes, exploration, and a passion to create. In my work, I express a sense of hope combined with loss; a willingness to fight met with the fear of failure. To accomplish these emotions, I use chiaroscuro to envelop my subjects in deep shadows then contrasting it with a defined elegance and warmth. With words, I paint a world that exists beyond the constraints of my canvases, allowing the exploration of the truths under the veil. Hoods hide secrets well, but shadows are never truly black.
