This is a compilation of works done on the plight of Nigerians seeking asylum in Germany by INNOCENT DURU, a journalist with The Nation Newspaper and Executive Director of voiceforafricanmigrants.com, Nigeria's only website that focuses solely on migration, and human trafficking issues. This body of work examines the challenges that Nigerian migrants experience trying to seek asylum in Germany. Many of them had left the country for reasons ranging from unemployment, poverty, insecurity, political instability among other issues with the hope of having respite abroad.Because most of them were financially handicapped, they travelled as undocumented migrants hoping to regularise their stay after some time. This did not work for a good number of them as they were subsequently repatriated often in the most inhuman manner. The authorities back at home worsen their plight on return as they are treated as common criminals. Their repatriation is often shrouded in secrecy with the authorities always denying such exercise. The work examines experiences of the deportees and the embarrassing denials of the Nigerian authorities about their return.
