Evelyn Cerda Gonzalez was born in San Antonio, Texas, in 1955 and educated at Edgewood High School and University of the Incarnate Word in the Arts. She is a wife, mother of three children and five stepchildren, and a grandmother to eleven grandchildren and one great-grandson. She devotes her time to painting, ceramics, sculpturing, and writing. The illustrations in At Nana's House were done solely by her, demonstrating her love for art.
