Jackie was born in Gloucester, England where she lived for twenty eight years. She followed in her mother's foot steps to pursue a nursing career. Jackie immigrated to Canada and continued with her nursing career, completing a Degree in Nursing and Masters of Education. During work and her studies, Jackie married and has three children. She is now working on her Doctorate in Nursing Education at the University of Western, Ontario. Jackie is currently working in the Middle East in Doha, Qatar where she is focusing on teaching student nurses. Jackie started journal writing at the age of 10 where she wrote about her experience of racism, marginalization, oppression and struggling with self-identity when attending junior school. She knew that something was wrong when she first entered into the classroom and then ordered by the teacher to sit at the back of the class. Jackie remained silent about this experience for over thirty years; she is now sharing her experience in breaking her silence and finding her voice. Giving hope to readers on their journey of self-discovery. Jackie is encouraging Black women to share their experiences in breaking their silence.
