A short, communicative course for the low-level learner of American English.
Improves practical communication skills in American English. Contains 15 units which each explore a different communicative area, such as answering the telephone or giving information to customers. Clear unit structure: the target language is introduced in the Listening section, and is practised first in controlled exercises, then in freer activities such as role play. Develops the vocabulary students need to communicate effectively through Word study sections. Gives emphasis to listening and speaking skills, but also provides practice in reading and writing (e.g. reading timetables, taking messages). Prepares students in the last unit for job interviews. Includes a word list of core vocabulary in American English, Spanish, Portuguese, Japanese, Chinese, Thai, and Korean.
