Autorenporträt
Lord Edward George Bulwer-Lytton, geb. 1803 in London, gest. 1873 in Torquay, veröffentliche mit 13 Jahren seinen ersten Gedichtband und studierte später in Cambridge und Bonn. Nach dem Studium schlug er eine diplomatische Laufbahn ein. Daneben schuf er ein vielseitiges literarisches Werk, das sowohl Prosa als auch Lyrik und Dramen umfasst.
