Melissa Butler is a writer, researcher, and educator with a focus on slowing down to notice and wonder. She holds an MEd in Curriculum Theory from Penn State University and an MA in Creative Writing from the University of Cape Town. She taught for 23 years in urban public schools. Her first book of poetry, removing, was published by Modjaji Books in 2010. In addition to poetry, she also writes children's picture books, essays, and other musings.
