Atmospheric ozone is an important trace gas constituent which protects the biosphere by blocking the genetically damaging ultraviolet (UV) radiation from the sun. The amount of UV radiation reaching the surface depends upon total ozone column present in the atmosphere. Estimating the column amount ozone is important to know the intensity of harmful UV radiation reaching the surface. This radiation can be influenced by other factors like clouds and aerosols. Hence it is necessary to have an awareness of the sensitivity of atmospheric ozone on UV radiation. This book is an attempt to understand the variability in the distribution of ozone over Indian region in various temporal and spatial scales and to understand the natural teleconnections that lead to ozone variability over the region.
