Sometimes when we want something very much, God asks us to wait. We must wait with expectancy, knowing that if we ask for anything according to His will, He will give it to us at the proper time. Christmases in Maine are snowy fantasies celebrating New England traditions, with fishing boat parades in the harbors, their masts lit up like holiday trees; bedecked shops that line the waterfronts of seaside towns; ice skating ponds; and ski slopes just a cog train ride away.

Autorenporträt
Anne Manganello has lived and worked in Portland, Maine (long celebrated as Vacationland), for most of her life. It is a short walk from her house to the Eastern Promenade, with its expansive view of the Atlantic Ocean, and the Ole Port, where restaurants and shops abound for natives and tourists alike. Her favorite holiday is Christmas, and she finds walks along the picturesque promenade to Fort Allen Park a joy during both winter and summer. She loves to travel and has been to Europe several times, but coming home to this seaside town where Henry Wadsworth Longfellow was born and lived and wrote is her delight.
