The second volume of Söderblom's Selected Works is dedicated to his idea of church unity. The urgency of the latter task required precedence of the Life and Work section of the ecumenical movement over Faith and Order. Such was the basis of the Stockholm conference of 1925. It was intended as a pioneering event for the reconciliation of nations. It was obvious that the Vatican would not go along with this concept, but Söderblom never lost hope that in the end some such solution would prevail.

Lange, Dietz
Dr. theol. Dietz Lange ( 2.4.1933 in Bremen) bestand 1952 sein Abitur und absolvierte im Anschluss ein Werksemester beim Evangelischen Studienwerk Villigst. Es folgte ein Studium der Evangelischen Theologie und Philosophie in Tübingen, Göttingen, Chicago und Zürich. Er war tätig als Vikar der Evangelischen Kirche von Westfalen in Bochum und Witten, wurde 1964 ordiniert und promovierte 1964 zum Dr. theol. in Zürich. Neben seiner Tätigkeit als Wissenschaftlicher Assistent hatte er den Posten des Akademischen Rates sowie Oberrates an der Theologischen Fakultät in Göttingen inne. 1973 folgte seine Habilitation in Systematischer Theologie in Göttingen, 1977 wurde Lange zum außerplanmäßigen sowie 1980 zum Professor ernannt, bis er 1998 aus dem Dienst ausschied. Zwischen 1992 und 1994 war Lange Vizepräsident der Universität Göttingen sowie Prediger in St. Marien in Göttingen seit 1988.
