Annie Adams Fields (1834 -1915) was a United States writer. After Fields' husband died in 1881, she continued to be at the center of Boston literary life. Fields' work involved an understanding of her friend's literary work. Fields was a forward-looking, philanthropist who encouraged those with literary talents. She edited important collections of letters and biographical sketches. She also influenced which writers her husband would publish. Sketches in this work include Longfellow, Emerson, Oliver Wendell Holmes, Mrs. Stowe, Cella Thaxter, Whittier, Tennyson, and Lady Tennyson.
