Nascido em 1961, filho de pais pescadores na RDC, aos 7 anos já era aluno da escola e tinha a alcunha de Pequeno Génio. O seu pai foi assassinado no final do ensino secundário e ele prosseguiu os estudos superiores sem qualquer apoio, tendo-se licenciado com distinção em 1987. As guerras, as dificuldades e as doenças foram-lhe cobrando o seu preço à medida que ia ganhando experiência e uma mente fértil e abençoada.
