Harryett Burden Hyde graduated cum laude from Stephen F. Austin State University with a degree in history and English. She taught at Ennis Junior High for thirty-two years, primarily in the gifted and talented program. She is now retired and lives with her husband, Glenn, in Hideaway Lake, Texas. They have a son, Richard; a daughter-in-law, Jala; and a grandson, Jackson Lee.
