Clorinda Matto de Turner (1852-1909). Viuda, pobre, dotada de una formacion intelectual poco comun en las mujeres de su tiempo, fue tambien una notable y audaz periodista peruana que del cuadro de costumbres paso a la historia literaria latinoamericana por sus aportes a la novela indigenista, que tanto hizo en su epoca por sensibilizar a la sociedad criolla acerca del irresuelto problema de estas comunidades sobrevivientes, particularmente en los paises andinos.
