Wetlands are the most productive and biologically diverse in the world but very fragile ecosystems. They are also important sites for biodiversity. The district Baran extends from 24º25 to 25º25 N to 76º12 to 77º26 E and 265 m altitude. The project were completed between October, 2013 to March, 2014 in Baran district at different wetlands as Bilasi Dam, Gopalpura Dam, Kishanpura Dam, Bethly Dam, Hinglot Dam, Manihara Wetland, Heekar Dah, Kachri Wetland, Pokhra Wetland etc. During the project period 58 wetlands were studies for the observing avian fauna. The Baran district has good diversity of avian fauna. The total number of avian fauna species observed in study area was 200, in which 43 migratory, 50 resident-migratory and 107 resident bird species.
