Lina Meruane nació en Chile en 1970. La obra de ficción incluye los relatos reunidos en Las Infantas y Avidez, y cinco novelas –Póstuma, Cercada, Fruta podrida, Sangre en el ojo y Sistema nervioso– traducidas a doce lenguas. Entre sus libros de no ficción se cuentan los ensayos Viajes virales y Zona ciega, así como el ensayo personal Palestina en pedazos (versión ampliada de su anterior Volverse Palestina), el ensayo lírico Palestina por ejemplo, y la diatriba Contra los hijos. Ensayo general, en tanto, reúne sus textos ensayísticos más breves. Ha incursionado en la dramaturgia con una adaptación teatral, Un lugar donde caerse muerta y una obra dramática: Esa cosa animal. Ha recibido los premios Metropolis Azul (Canadá 2023), Cálamo (España 2016), Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz (México 2012), Anna Seghers (Berlín 2011) y becas de escritura de la Fundación Guggenheim (USA 2004), la NEA (USA 2010), la DAAD (Alemania 2017) y Casa Cien Años de Soledad (México 2021), entre otros. Enseña escritura creativa en la Universidad del Norte (Colombia) y en la Universidad de Nueva York (USA).
