Autorenporträt
The Today show calls Pilliard Dickle "a born storyteller, with an inventive mind that never stops." This is evident in the books he writes as well as the giant poster calendars he draws. His calendars are set in a land called Calendaria, where everything is built of days. They're collected by avid Pilliard Dickle fans the world over. Associated Press calls them "a yearlong trip through a cartoon fantasy land." His 2015 calendar just won The National Calendar Award as "Most Original." This unique approach to time is also evident in his quirky songs and stories, which he performs with is 1 1/2 Man Band. Band members include the Future Pilliard Dickle and the Past Pilliard Dickle. As for the quirky pen name, he explains" "I'd just finished drawing my first calendar and I left a space in the corner for my signature. But it just didn't seem like something a "Joe Chandler" would draw. So I took a break for lunch, and just as I bit into a dill pickle...." Pilliard Dickle lives on the Georgia coast with his neighbor's cat.
