World Health Organization (WHO) has launched Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI) in 1974. Soon after this, many countries of the world started immunization programmes. Mother's knowledge and information about vaccination have shown good achievement of immunization. Main reasons for failure to vaccinate were lack of knowledge of immunization schedule and infant's illness, Lack of parental awareness of adverse effects and contraindications of vaccination, negative perceptions about vaccination in mild illness and negative attitude. Many mothers are unaware about doses of vaccines and time limit for the particular vaccine that should be administered to the child as well as mother's fear of vaccination was considered as major barriers to childhood vaccination. Main aim of the study was find the awareness and practices of mothers towards childhood immunization.Quantitative methods and cross sectional study design was used for this study. Study population was mothers of between 16-24 months children in Gaur Municipality, Rautahat District. Sample size was 177.The present study found that 72.3% of mothers had poor knowledge.
