The science of Ayurvedic pharmaceutics itself specifies certain tests to ascertain the quality of metals in Mrita lauha/ Bhasmas. Before application, the ancient scholars clearly and very strictly advised some conditions for the acceptable quality of Mrita Lauha (Bhasma). The first and the most important test is that Mrita lauha (Bhasma) should float on water. This test is an indication that the heavy Metals exist in a different form. Heavy Metals are defined as those, which are elements with higher specific gravity. Mrita lauha (Bhasma) can have very small sizes if prepared well, modern science calls these extremely small-sized particles as "Nanoparticles "Nanotechnology is the latest science but science of Ayurvedic pharmaceutics has been using it long before the term 'nano' was formed. Most of the formulations of 'Mrita lauha (Bhasma)' have nanoparticles in them. For many researchers, it is still a great surprise that the 5000-year-old Indian system of medicine had knowledge ofnanoscience and technology, which modern science has just started exploring in the 21st century.
