Lawrence and his father lived in a farmhouse they built in 1834. They had 80 acres of farmland. MR. Moseley was forced to sell 60 acres of his land and the remainder would become a cemetery, Bachelor Grove Cemetery. When MR. and MRS. Moseley passed away, the town agreed they would allow Lawrence to keep the farmhouse and take care of the cemetery.
