The way forward is to turn to the old concept of de-institutionalization whereby families are empowered and supported towards community based care of children.

Fredah Kagiso van der Vinne estudió en la Universidad de Botswana y obtuvo una licenciatura en trabajo social en 1995. En 2003 adquirió un Hon en Práctica Clínica en Trabajo Social en la Universidad de Ciudad del Cabo y en 2006 un máster en Práctica Clínica en Trabajo Social. Actualmente es trabajadora comunitaria voluntaria en un asentamiento informal de Ciudad del Cabo.
