This book is an auto-biography of Bert Mushala. Bert starts a political life path unknowingly at a young age of 8 years through his father, Adamson Mushala, who was a politician, and upon his arrest as Secretary General of United Party (UP), when it was banned by the Kaunda (UNIP) United National Independence Party led government to create a one party state in Zambia in 1968. In 1991 Bert participates in politics against UNIP. Joining politics on full time basis in 1996 general elections, rejected on adoption by his party the Movement for Multi-party Democracy (MMD) and goes to win as an Independent Member of Parliament. In 2000, Bert resigns as Member of Parliament (MP), rejoins MMD and adopted in a tight contested by-election, shot at in the company of his wife and three workers while travelling for the campaigns, wins the seat. Bert decides to stay out of politics after the 2006 general elections, however he is convinced by the opposition President Sata of Patriotic Front (PF), and returns to politics in 2008 at the demise of President Mwanawasa. PF wins the general elections in 2011 and Bert is appointed into public Service as Permanent Secretary, from January 2012 to 2017.
