In Peter's first autobiography, Out of the Jungle, he told about his life growing up in the Paraguayan Chaco until his move to Canada when he was fifteen years old. Now, in Back to the Jungle, Peter tells of his struggle to fit into a society utterly different from the one in which he grew up. He recounts his experiences as a missionary in Panama and explains what led to his decision to start his own swimming pool business. Still, Peter yearned to return to the land of his childhood. After telling "Paraguay stories" to his four sons for many years, Peter decided to make a return visit there in 1980, twenty-five years after leaving. As he lay under the brilliant southern sky, listening to the frogs singing in a nearby pond, the insects chirping, and the night birds singing, he felt transported to a time long ago when, as a little boy, he so often sat outside with his parents looking at this same sky. At that point he knew he had come home. Peter Boldt was born in the Paraguayan Chaco. His Russian-Mennonite parents emigrated to Canada when he was fifteen. He is happily married to Fern, is the father of four sons and "Opa" to nine grandchildren.
