Chelsey van der Munnik grew up in Northeast, New York. At fifteen, she gave birth to her daughter, Lydia-the emotions and moments surrounding this event being the subject of Balloon Animal. She later attended SUNY Plattsburgh where she double majored in Poetry and Psychology. Her work has been published in ZPlatt Literary Magazine, Crack The Spine, BROAD!, Poetry Super Highway, and Right Hand Pointing.
