The revisions seek to ensure that the rules concerning banqueting are clear and to better protect Members financially when sponsoring events for third parties. The revised rules reflect lessons learned from experience of the rules in place since 2009. The main changes include: Members may accept a small non-monetary gift from event organizers if the gift is worth not more than 25, clarification that clubs and societies can hold banqueting events, provided there is no direct or indirect financial gain for the club or society; UK Registered Charities may seek both direct and indirect financial or other kind of support at House of Lords functions; and a reminder on the face of the rules that Members must attend the entirety of functions they sponsor, and that Members retain responsibility.
