This anthology of Sri Surendra Kumar Choudhary is titled बांसुरी meaning 'The Flute' which is a metaphorical projection of the poet's creative voice. The title inherits the cultural tradition of Indian art, history and mythology--all in one. बांसुरी alludes directly to Krishna's cultural centrality in Indian traditional arts. The poet articulates this metaphor both in its traditional sense and in its viability for modern exigencies. His flute is addressing primarily the Indian youth and almost every individual with an assertion to imbibe the crux of Indian philosophical heritage to enlighten the present youth and empower them to combat present-day adversities. Thus the individual mystical approach of poet transforms into deepest concerns over outwardly mundane world and its ailments. In short, this attempt is a testimony to the poet's insurmountable faith in the victory of the humanist ideology. The book comprises of 42 poems and the subject matter deals meticulously with the vibrant emotions of human beings--sorrows, joys, duties, love, compassion, sacrifice, allegiance, success, failure and what not! Each poem infuses a sense of power and capability to understand the multiple transformational variants of human emotions. An attempt has been made to thwart the effort to destabilize humanity. It could establish a resounding faith in the ability of an individual to integrate himself with the immense divine power of Krishna's flute which emanates love, affection and peace. In totality, this anthology represents the rich myriad of human sentiments and uplifts the conscience of whoever comes in touch with it. Hopefully, it will be welcomed by Hindi-speaking people.
