Autorenporträt
Mike Baldwin is a London-based author, academic, SEN teacher, and harp maker. He writes on folklore and musical instruments (specifically the harp) and presents at conferences around the world. After completing a degree in musical instrument making in 1995, Mike returned to academia, completing an MA in Musical Instrument Technology in 2010, and an AHRC-funded PhD in 2017. As a teacher he has won a Let Teacher's Shine award (2016), and he was awarded The Terence Pamplin Award for Organology from The Worshipful Company of Musicians (2019). His first book, Mizen: Rescued Folklore, Histories and Songs from Ireland's South-West, was published in 2019, and received Best Folklore Book of All Time (top 100) by Book Authority. His second book, Harp Making in Late-Georgian London, followed in 2020, Skibbereen: Rescued Folklore and Histories from Ireland's South-West was released in 2022, and Béara: Rescued folklore, histories and songs from Ireland's south-west (vol. 1) in December 2024. Mike's new book, Béara: Rescued folklore, histories and songs from Ireland's south-west (vol. 2) will be out in Spring 2025
