Paulo Pineda incessantly seeks quick fortune, frequenting casinos more than he probably should. He gambles often, and loses often. He previously, and quite unexpectantly, came into possession of the notorious Almasi Ya Kifo diamonds; suddenly enjoying terrific winnings. Then, after experiencing some very disturbing events and fearing for his life, he agreed to rid himself of the diamonds. Disappointed now that he's not winning, Paulo reflects on how his luck would be better if he still had the mysterious diamonds. He becomes consumed with the selfish hope of possessing the diamonds again. Paulo's convinced they will bring him wealth beyond his dreams this time and is resolute to find them. He's determined, greedy and ruthless in his hunt. Just like a Barracuda.
