This book was the culmination of over 10 years of dedicated effort. Especially, it presents a comprehensive translation of Basho's linked verse, encompassing 576 poems across 16 volumes, along with the results of my research on linked verses using statistical methods. There had been no complete English translation of all the 576 poems in 16 volumes. An introduction is provided for those encountering Basho's linked verses for the first time. Autorenporträt
He earned his M.D. from the University of Tokyo in 1995, and his Master's degree in Japan Studies from the Open University of Japan in 2022. He has published five books in Japan: Data Analysis of Japanese Literature; English Translation of Basho's Linked Verse and Comments concerning Statistics; Basho's Linked Verse: A Complete Translation; Essays on Miyazawa Kenji and Endo Shusaku; and Selected 15 Poems in Modern Japan. In addition, he will publish two books in the United States: Statistical Data Analysis of Japanese Literature, and this book.
