The goal of physical preparation in modern handball is to increase the capacity to sustain speed or develop the highest muscular power for a given time in motor actions specific to the activity. The action of training involves the repetition of explosive exercises aimed at automating the execution of motor skills and abilities and developing the metabolic functions specific to handball performance. The aim of this work is to present the principles and modern bases for the planning of physical preparation in handball. This involves defining the different workloads in handball, depending on the intensity, volume and frequency of the exercises, as well as their distribution and interaction in the meso and macro cycles of training.
