Lesley Van Staveren was born and raised in greater London but emigrated to Cairns, Australia in 2007. She has three young children, and her vision is to contribute to a socially and environmentally conscious world for future generations to thrive in. She began her career within recruitment and business development then transitioned to working within the plastic industry for ten years. This included co-founding the first recycled manufacturing facility in Far North Queensland. Lesley is an advocate for the growth of women in manufacturing, driving the development of this in the industry to provide a stronger local economy. She also provides regional entrepreneurship mentoring support. Being a respected powerhouse within the Cairns community, Lesley actively educates individuals and organisations on plastic, recycling and waste reduction. She also proactively raised funds for Ruth's Women's Shelter, COUCH, The Junction Clubhouse and Wheels of Wellness. Lesley is also an advocate for female self-empowerment and resilience, and has hosted the 2018, 2019 and 2020 conference 'Radiance - Illuminating the Strength Within'. Lesley has always been deeply fascinated by human behaviour. She believes humanity can do so much better as a whole when we enable others to rise, while also appreciating our unique individual value.
