So You're the Father ... Now What? There are several antonyms for the word beating, which are victory, success, and triumph. Throughout this roller coaster journey of emotions were an enormous amount of spiritual attacks that you must reverse, and be victorious in spiritual battle. Psychologically, with every obstacle as a father I first had to do a self-inventory and some purging, in order to receive the personal spiritual direction required to triumph over both natural and spiritual issues. This necessary process was essential if I was going to be of any real value to my son. Biblically, we are to walk in the fruits of the spirit, which are love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. I found that during the journey of Beating Incarceration, the truth of this biblical principle could not be more essential to victory. With the magnitude of my son's criminal issue, clearly there are some decisions, if given the chance, I would now modify. However, one thing I am confident of and would not change, was my commitment in love. Life-altering situations such as my son's case just underscores why the bible teaches us that love is the greatest gift you can demonstrate.
