Happily, this poem was made into a country and western song in the later part of the 1980's. I have lost my son Chris at a tender age of twenty-three and many other family members. I have sat and expressed the deep sadness these events have given me. Birthdays, anniversaries, and most anything that puts smiles on people's faces also puts a pen in my hand and a sense of fun in my mind. These days, if I am not writing a poem someone will ask me to! Please enjoy reading my poetry. You might find something you like and something that is very close to home!
