Observation Deck Standing on this deck I look down and observe. This deck is high above the lives of my friends At times I feel higher than all human kind I stand alone humbled in this crowd As the crowd separates Between the entertainers And the loners I stand back and observe. Perched above on this lonely deck, I wonder if I learn more from this distance Separation, separating myself from the world "They" all learn from their mistakes. From me they take and take I observe like I'm on a deck. From above looking down. I so want to look up instead of down Even if I have to jump off this deck Position my arms close to my eyes and just dive Dive into the rest of the world All it's insecurity By now I should have learned my way around Or like Grenouille learned my smell around By now I should be able to stand on my own cloud Pour myself out and share with the crowd. This collection of dark, brooding poetry explores poet Joseph Saunders's journey from boy to man over the course of a decade. Love, betrayal, beauty, and danger combine in an eclectic mix of words and emotions that compel you to delve into your soul.
