Autorenporträt
The author started writing poetry at the age of fifteen when her tenth grade English teacher, Sister Miriam (IHM) recognized that the author had a talent for rhyme and rhythm. The teacher continuously praised the student's works and encouraged her to follow the calling. Through the years, the author continued to write poetry, reflecting on the days spent with her mentor, Sister Miriam. These reflections led to the author's use of a pseudonym. Reminiscence of tenth grade literature and her love for the works of the Brontë sisters resulted in the pen name Beca Cross, the first initials of the sisters (Bronte, Emily, Charlotte, Anne) and a part of the author's last name (Cross). The author went on to write children's short stories and personalized greeting cards. Her motivation for this stemmed from the birth of her two children, Lauren and Joseph. All works remained a part of her personal collection until this, her first publishing.
