Roxanne Monette was born in Montreal in a tight-knit family of four and grew up learning French first, then English. Her extended family is scattered across Ontario on her mother's side and Quebec on her father's. She has been an avid reader from a young age and is especially interested in history. She acquired a bachelor's degree in history from the University of Montreal and now works for a mining company in Nunavik. She enjoys writing in her spare time. Other hobbies include travelling, knitting, going to the gym, learning to play the violin and enjoying her cat's company. Becoming Melinda is Roxanne's first novel.
